Where did the name MIA Canvas come from?
MIA Canvas stands for Magnetic Interactive Art. The acronym was a name that could encompass all the characteristics that each piece of art contains.
What materials do you use in creation of a MIA Canvas piece?
The canvas is a standard 11 x 14 inch gallery wrapped canvas. The paints used are acrylic craft paints with a UV coating over the piece to protect the picture from dirt and sunlight. The magnets are poly resin and they have a glued in neodymium magnet on the back in order to hold children’s art up on the wall safely.
How strong are the magnets used in MIA Canvas Collections?
Neodymium magnets are powerful magnets that should be handled carefully. These magnets can have the strength to hold 3-5 lbs, and so when using these magnets, you need to be cautious with little fingers. We do not recommend using these magnets to hold more than 1 piece of paper to the artwork, as the magnets would be more likely to fall, and create a hazard. The magnets we use are glued in and cured over days in order to preserve the holding power to the resin. These magnets can be extremely harmful if more than one were to be ingested at a time, SO PARENT SUPERVISION IS RECOMMENDED AT ALL TIMES TO AVOID SWALLOWING. The internet is a great place to get more information regarding neodymium magnets and all common uses.
What is the age range for playing with MIA Canvas artwork?
We always encourage playing with the artwork under adult supervision. The canvas contains small parts, and is not recommended under 4 years of age.
What are some ideas for using a MIA Canvas interactively?
We have discovered many uses to MIA canvas. While it is recommended that canvases be used with parent supervision, the children are encouraged to touch and play with the art and its magnets. To display the art, you can hang on the wall as is, frame the canvas, or even put on a small easel in a bookcase. Besides identifying objects, colors, and numbers, the art is to be explored both visually and physically. The fabrics, bells, and feathers can be felt, while the magnets can be moved around to count. You can also use the magnets to hang up photos, note cards, art projects, and even mobiles. See some of the pictures located within the website for alternate ideas. Can Mia Canvas create a special piece for my child’s/family nursery?
Special Orders are possible, and we can do our very best to accommodate your special requests on sizes, colors, names, and pictures. These services may be available for an additional cost.
How long does it take to get a piece after ordering?
These pieces are handmade and made only once your order is placed. We do our best to complete them quickly, but we are unable to sacrifice quality or drying time. Therefore, expected arrival is usually between 4-6 weeks, and up to 8 weeks. If it is a rush order, we can try to accommodate you, whenever possible, for an additional cost. Contact us before placing your order.
What type of payment do you accept?
We accept only Paypal at this time.
Can I cancel my order once it is placed? Do you offer money back guarantees and refunds?
You may contact us to see if your order has begun to be created. If it has not, we may be able to cancel the order. But if the process has begun (usually within 2 days time), you will be held responsible for payment. Each order is custom made so we are not able to offer a money back guarantee or a refund. Unfortunately, it is not possible to refund your order as each picture is personalized to YOUR request, be it colors or names. We request that you consider and decide carefully when finalizing your order, since the details will be as YOU will select them. You may want to contact us if you have any reservations about your purchase. Please know that we want to achieve 100% customer satisfaction, and will try to work with you if there is any discontent. If there was any damage with shipping where the integrity of the canvas was compromised, please let us know within 3 days of receipt so we can work on getting you a new MIA canvas efficiently. Can I order the canvas as a gift that is to be sent to an alternate address?
Of course you can send the art as a gift! Who doesn’t love a gift? Please make sure you have the correct details when ordering and fill out the shipping address accordingly.
What is involved in the shipping and handling of MIA Canvas’s?
Each canvas will arrive individually wrapped in a rafia tied cellophane bag, so it is already gift wrapped for you! The canvas is shipped with frame corners and in bubble wrap so that they are protected during travel. We also place newspaper around the piece during shipment. We encourage you to recycle and reuse the shipping materials to help our environment. MIA Canvas’s can be shipped anywhere within the US. The S/H cost for 1 art canvas starts at $12.95, and each additional piece is an additional $5. The S/H cost for an extra bag of magnets is $3.00 (with or without a canvas), and $2.00 a bag for any additional bags after that.
